Petty Traders Support Scheme
The Petty Traders Support Scheme (PTSS) is a grassroots economic empowerment initiative of The Hindsight Development Organisation, created to support low-income petty traders whose business capital is below ₦10,000.
Many hardworking petty traders struggle to survive on very small business capital, not because they are lazy, but because they lack support.
PTSS helps petty traders move from survival trading to basic economic stability through small capital support, simple business discipline, advisory guidance, and community accountability.
Implemented in structured cohorts over a six-month cycle, PTSS is designed as a graduation-focused intervention, not open-ended assistance. This scheme also strengthens trust and cooperation within communities by using local nomination and verification processes. This approach ensures transparency, encourages shared responsibility, and builds a sense of ownership among traders and community members. Through this model, PTSS contributes not only to individual business growth but to more resilient and self-supporting local economies.
